Arsenal – Crystal Palace Preview

Arsenal had a terrible start of the new season as they lost their first three matches, but with time Mikel Arteta’s team started improving. The Gunners went unbeaten in their next four games and won three of them, so now they are 11th in the table with 10 points. Just before the international break Arsenal made their first draw for the 2021/22 season. The fans were furious with the Spanish manager after what happened in the first three rounds, but now they seem more calm and expect better things to happen. Arteta asked the supporters for more time and he got it – now it’s his turn to show that he deserved it.

The star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the players who should start giving more to the team. We all know that Aubameyang is a terrific striker, but so far he has scored just two goals in the Premier League. The club will need his efforts to keep progressing because right now Arsenal do not have many alternatives of the Gabonese.

Crystal Palace are going through their first season under the new manager Patrick Vieira. This game is going to be interesting because Vieira is Arsenal legend and he’s facing his former club for a first time as a head coach. It’d be fascinating to see how the Emirates will greet the club’s former hero. Patrick Vieira was one of Arsenal’s best players while he was playing.

So far in the Premier League Crystal Palace are pretty average. They have won just 7 points in seven games played which puts them at 14th place in the standings. So far Palace have won just one of their games – against Tottenham Hotspur at the Selhurst Park.

Before the break Crystal Palace made their 4th draw for the season. Vieira’s team hosted Leicester City at home and they were two goals behind, but managed to snatch a point with a 2-2 draw. Michael Olise and Jeffery Schlupp scored for the hosts in the second half.

One of the biggest problems for Patrick Vieira continues to be the lack of goals from the strikers. Christian Benteke is still without a goal since the beginning of the season while the same could be said about Jordan Ayew as well. Wilfred Zaha and Odsonne Edouard have scored four goals in

total, but clearly Palace’s strikers need to be more clinical in attack. This is something which Patrick Vieira needs to keep working on in future.
